Current Edwards Scroll Pump Families

Shop new Edwards scroll pumps and go directly to the matching repair-parts family. Confirm voltage, flange size and pump variant before ordering a complete pump.

Edwards nXDS Series

nXDS6i · nXDS10i · nXDS15i · nXDS20i · iC variants · nXDS10R

The broad current family for clean dry pumping, with standard, corrosion-resistant and application-specific variants. One parts family covers the core nXDS model range, but always match the complete suffix and product number.

Edwards mXDS3

Compact 1.77 CFM dry scroll pump

A compact, portable dry pump for smaller clean-vacuum systems, instruments and OEM installations where an oil-free alternative is preferred.

Edwards XDS35i

XDS35i · XDS35i NGB and related variants

A higher-capacity dry scroll platform used in clean processes, analytical systems, research equipment and as a backing pump. Match standard, no-gas-ballast and chemical-compatible variants carefully.

Edwards XDS46i

XDS46i and related variants

A high-throughput XDS platform optimized for strong pumping speed through common rough-vacuum pressures, including turbomolecular-pump backing applications.

Dry scroll pumps do not need vacuum pump oil changes.

The pumping module is oil-free. Do not add rotary-vane vacuum pump oil to an Edwards scroll pump. Follow the Edwards instruction manual for all service procedures and any model-specific bearing maintenance.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Service intervals depend on the pump model, operating hours, inlet loading and process. Use the correct Edwards manual as the final authority for your specific pump.

Routine Checks

  • Inspect the inlet and exhaust connections for leaks or restrictions.
  • Keep cooling-air paths, fan covers and external surfaces clean.
  • Listen for changes in operating noise or vibration.
  • Track pump-down time and achievable pressure against normal performance.
  • Replace tip seals at the manual-specified interval or when wear is indicated.

Common Poor-Vacuum Causes

  • Worn or damaged tip seals
  • A leaking inlet connection or contaminated vacuum line
  • A blocked or restricted inlet/exhaust filter
  • Exhaust-valve wear or contamination
  • An incorrect gas-ballast setting for the process

Noise or Vibration

  • Stop the pump if noise changes suddenly or becomes severe.
  • Check mounting, external hardware and fan contact first.
  • Persistent knocking, grinding or rising vibration may require bearing or internal inspection.
  • Do not continue operating a pump that appears mechanically damaged.

Overheating or Shutdown

  • Confirm that cooling-air openings are unobstructed.
  • Check the fan and verify adequate clearance around the pump.
  • Confirm supply voltage and the permitted continuous inlet load.
  • Review controller indicators and fault information in the model manual.

Edwards Scroll Pump FAQ

Which Edwards scroll pumps are covered here?

Current nXDS, mXDS3, XDS35i and XDS46i pumps are covered, along with parts paths for earlier XDS5, XDS10, ESDP12, ESDP30 and GVSP30 pumps.

Do Edwards dry scroll pumps use vacuum pump oil?

No. The pumping module is oil-free and does not require routine vacuum pump oil changes. Follow the model-specific Edwards manual for all maintenance.

What is the most common scroll-pump maintenance item?

Tip seals are a normal wear item in many scroll pumps. Reduced vacuum, slower pump-down or a reached service interval can indicate that inspection or replacement is due.

When do I need an overhaul kit instead of a tip-seal kit?

A tip-seal kit addresses normal scroll-tip wear. An overhaul may be appropriate when bearings, valves, seals or other internal components require service. Diagnosis should be based on pump condition and the Edwards service instructions.

Are Vacuum Pump Supply kits genuine Edwards OEM parts?

Product listings identify the manufacturer. Items labeled Edwards OEM are genuine Edwards products. Items labeled OEM-equivalent are compatible replacements supplied by Vacuum Pump Supply and are not manufactured by Edwards.

Does Vacuum Pump Supply sell complete new Edwards scroll pumps?

Yes. Current listings include nXDS, mXDS3, XDS35i and XDS46i pumps. Check the individual product page or contact Vacuum Pump Supply to confirm the correct variant and current availability.
